Me Talk Pretty One Day

This morning, on the train, I sat down next to a woman reading Me Talk Pretty One Day. Made me smile thinking about when I read that book. Fresh after a breakup, after a tough first quarter at UCLA, on the flight to Russia. I was feeling pretty defeated.

I remember getting this book on a whim. (A splurge, at the time!) This book had just come out, and I asked the person working at the airport book store whether it was any good. She shrugged. I paid for it. One of the first chapters made me laugh so hard, I cried real tears. Losing myself in a hilarious book of short stories is one of the best memories I have of that time. :)

P.S. The chapter I talked about. Read it and weep. It'll take you 3 minutes.

I've failed to read any David Sedaris so far but I have one of his books read by him waiting to be listened to. :)
