26 - A State of the Union Address

DSC08125

I turned 26 two week ago. My birthday fell on a Sunday this year. I took Friday off work.

Early morning on Friday Alex and I got coffee and donuts and headed off to Desolation Wilderness for the weekend. The view from our campsite to Lower Velma Lake was breathtaking. I literally cried happy tears when I saw it.

We came back on Sunday, sunburnt and dirty, and I had a drawing of Moos and Tig and a merengue torta waiting for me. All in all, it was a perfect day.

I'm going to skip tallying up last year, because I just don't know what to say.

26 years and 13 days later, it's still strange to me how life can be so sweet and so heartbreaking at the same time. I'm truly grateful for my fun life. Grateful for clean sheets, donuts, alpine lakes. Grateful that I still get to learn lots at my job, and grateful to be working for a mission I believe in.

And forever and always, I'm grateful for Moos and Tig and their stinky cat breath. :)

P.S. One thing I totally nailed this year was getting my finances under control. Watsi + Kitten Rescue donation was on time.
