How to Recover after Bursting into Tears

I have this tendency to cry when I'm in the middle of arguing. (Ahem. See here.) It's really awful, but I feel like I can't help it sometimes. It just comes over me like a wave, and before I know it, I'm crying about crying.
As always, Amy Poehler gives spot-on advice:
If you do start crying in an argument and someone asks why, you can always say, "I'm just crying because of how wrong you are."Amazing, right? Why hadn't I read it sooner?! :)
So cute, Olga. And I think that is exactly why I am about to cry sometimes when I argue too - I just wished they could see my perspective and I am mad at myself for not being able to properly explain it!!
ReplyDeleteI think I read we cry when we feel powerless in the face of our emotions. My advice: when you feel yourself getting to that point, resort to violence.
