The Godfather

Have you ever seen The Godfather trilogy? The first time I watched it was on New Year's Eve of 2012. (Strange NYE movie choice, I know.) It has become one of those movies I never get tired of. I notice something new every time.

Recently, I got to watch it with a real Italian (who adores The Godfather, of course). I kept pausing it to ask her questions. It was so much fun. All the quotes rushed back to me, and I'm obsessed all over again. Trivia, anyone?

Yesterday we got to pick a new sprint theme at work. I, without hesitation, suggested The Godfather characters A minute later, it was official. "Boom! Olga makes an offer that cannot be refused. Don Corleone it is!" So stoked.

P.S. Did you know The Godfather got 100% on Rotten Tomatoes? Whoa.

Moving Foward

Moving was really difficult for me. I had such a hard time letting go of my job, my neighborhood, and especially, my home. I couldn't imagine ever getting used to anything else. Is that weird? (I'm kind of embarrassed I got so attached to my obviously temporary rental.) I shed many tears over it, and now I cannot believe I was so worried.

As soon as I accepted the inevitability of the move, I told myself I would need to document this apartment. Somehow, it made me feel a tiny bit better about leaving it behind. Here's the result, if you'd like to see:

Are you also an anxious person? As Joanna says, "when it comes to worrying, we can really nail it sometimes." Yep.

Tycho Concert

photos via tycho

Do you listen to Tycho? I'm a huge fan. His music is perfect for when you're getting shit done, and for when you're just chilling. It's magical! You have to give it a listen.

He recently did a tour to promote his new album, and stopped at the Fillmore in SF. I was completely giddy with excitement for months leading up to it. I was trying to time everything just right. What would I wear? When would I wash my hair? (Do you guys do this?) And when he finally came out to play the first song, the funniest thing happened (I had to get a photo)...

Weirdest Jobs

via anil chouhan on quora

Do you use Quora? I'm addicted. It is a major time sink for me. Especially on the days I get the weekly digest.

Last week's digest had one of the coolest questions I've seen, and I wanted to share. It asked if there were any jobs that only existed in a particular country. (The guy above is a professional ear cleaner! Ack!)

My favorite one comes from Iran...

Black Paint

Even though my apartment is all set up (for the most part), I still have home improvement on my mind. I decided to take it easy on the paint this time around (after the yellow kitchen disaster of 2011-2013 :). But I love the simplicity of this black accent wall. Don't you?

After a couple of crazy home improvement endeavors, I'm all about a good low-effort, high-impact project.

If you hadn't noticed, this is a bad, bad blog. I write, I don't write, and I don't even apologize when I disappear. Let's start with some (select) news...
